The research project examines the correspondence between rock and stone, respectively matter and material that strengthens the cultural link between the landscape and the inhabitants of Matera. The matter that grounds and the material that shapes are two different expressions made visible through the passing of time. Matera is a model for the circular city with a holistic approach in dealing with the local while nourishing an inseparable link between identity and place.
