Figure Ground

Montreal, 2019

Exhibition with Atelier Barda and philosopher Rafael Ziegler at the Biosphere Environment Museum

The adaptive reuse of the formerly active Francon quarry is an evolutionary proposal for a post industrial site. The intervention enables a symbiotic relationship between its different actors; inhabitants, fauna, and flora. The intended public space condenses themes such as large scale phytodepuration with the reuse of wastewater and polluted snow, the harmonization of a fractured site, and the reuse of a local building material. It presents a microcosm where environmental, educational, cultural, and historical vocations intertwine.
