Shared Boundaries

The Dead, the Living, and the Everyday

Berlin, 2021

Research

The implementation of social distancing measures have shuffled our practice of space-occupation and space-sharing in relation to other bodies. The unavoidable confrontation with proximity, or the one that we lack, addresses schemes of societal coexistence generating reflections on the boundaries we share. A series of instances from selected cemeteries portray ambiguity in the spatial limits that define our interaction with the deceased and their place in our daily life; an encounter between the sacred and the banal.
